The author/owner of this photograph requested a critque in which I originally see a need for because to me, there's nothing blatantly apparent here to judge. Aside from taking pictures (from my smartphone) I am completely in the dark when it comes to the world of photography and what would be considered perfect or imperfect. Unlike art where one is using their hands to mimick their studies in perfect detail or fleshening out their inspirations on a 2 dimensional sheet, a photograph is just a photograph. Meanng, what you see is what you get. There's no bad way to take a picture... unless the person is ugly or they are wearing really tacky clothes or that they're ugly wearing bad clothes. In other words, I don't know!

However, that does not mean I shouldn't try. This is new to me and like my feelings on abtract art (where I'm also new in trying to get a vibe for) I am provoked to take the challenge. So I'm going to go in on three things; tone, person and impression.

First the tone, it's black and white. Not bad here. I like how there's shadowing over the upper left side of the females (Jessica-Lorraine-Z's) face adding to the dismal feeling of this universe.

The female is very attractive so attractive that her features come through the stale-dimension of the pictures tone and her expression leads me to be impressed with the feeling that she's in complete shock of something or someone to the point of it being eclipsed by disgust.

The only problem with this that I could see here is the placement of her arms. At first it looks like she's doing a selfie-pose but you can tell that both her arms together as if she's posing for a photographer. So this is where my imagination comes in to compensate for this by solving a mystery here. Perhaps this is how she would look if she went to a photo shoot of a respectable photographer only for the photographer to come out of the closet wearing an octopus mask and in that moment of shock, her worlds fading to black.

That's it from my end. I guess judging a photograph's easier than I thought. Well, you never know until you try.
