Literature Text

You touch me and I'm still cold.

It's the nature of things to forget,
Last I remember you're a silhouette.

We're racing against the echoes.

Shaded in hues of red and green,
Deep between the covers and unseen.

I never considered it falling apart.

You can't love something you never knew,
And if you say you did I know it's untrue.

We're nothing but a shadow of regret.

Now I've become stagnate in your mind.
I'm trapped in this cage and can't unwind.

Your words do slither ever closer.

It's a shame I can't just get you out,
You've filled my mind with crawling doubt.

I'm sorry for it all, sorry for everything.

I'm Claustrophobic and the walls are caving in,
The line between life and death is pretty thin.

We.. we were nothing, and we still are.

I love how you did this stylistically. A lot of rhyming poems have a hard time coming off serious (I can say thing, half of mine rhyme, haha) So I love that every couplet is prefaced and ended with a solitary line. It allows more room to think and a wonderful flow to develop. Your couplets, too, hold a lot of power. The first one is amazing. The whole poem manages to say what you are feeling with out directly coming out and saying it. "You can't say you love something you never knew" "Last I remember you're a silhouette" "I never considered it falling apart" and "We... we were nothing, and we still are" Beautiful and thoughtful, with a tinge of despair. Great work.
